This is a practice exam modelled on the HSK format, built from ToneDeck's own word and sentence data. It is not an official HSK paper, and your score here is not an official result. No feedback until the end - just like the real thing.
How the practice exam works
- Listening. You hear a word (native-quality audio) and pick what you heard. Wrong answers are tone minimal pairs where possible - the same sound in a different tone - because that is what the real listening paper punishes.
- Reading. A real example sentence with one word blanked out; choose the word that completes it, HSK 阅读-style.
- Word order (HSK 3+). Rearrange scrambled words into a correct sentence, mirroring the real exam's 写作 write-the-sentence task. HSK 1-2 skip it, just like the real papers.
- Scoring. No feedback until the end, a countdown timer, and a pass line at 60% - the same threshold as the official exam (120/200 on HSK 1-2, 180/300 on HSK 3-6). Then a readiness score, your weakest section, and a one-tap way to send every missed word into your review deck.

Is this an official HSK test?+
No. This is a practice exam modelled on the HSK format, generated from ToneDeck's own word and sentence data. It is not an official HSK paper, and the score is a study aid, not an official result. Official exams are administered by Chinese Testing International at test centres and online.
What is the HSK pass mark?+
The commonly used pass line is 60% of total marks: 120 out of 200 on HSK 1 and 2, and 180 out of 300 on HSK 3 to 6. ToneDeck's practice exams score you against the same 60% threshold.
What does the readiness score mean?+
It is the average of your section percentages, with every section weighted equally - just like the real HSK, where each section is worth the same fixed share of total marks - e.g. 'You're at ~72% of HSK 3'. Above 60% means you cleared the pass threshold on this practice set; the per-section breakdown shows your weakest area (often listening) so you know what to drill next.
