Privacy Policy

ToneDeck (“we”, “us”) is a Mandarin learning app available on the web, iOS, and Android. This policy explains what we collect and why. We keep it short because we collect little.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name and email address when you create an account, so your progress and subscription follow you across devices.
- Learning progress. Which words you have reviewed and your spaced-repetition schedule, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Purchase information. When you subscribe, the purchase is processed by Apple, Google, or Stripe and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status, not your card number.
- Usage analytics. Anonymous, aggregated usage data via Google Analytics to understand which features help people learn.
- Pronunciation audio. The pronunciation check uses your browser or device speech recognition. Audio may be processed by your platform provider (for example, Chrome sends it to Google for transcription). We do not record or store your voice.
How we use it
To run the service, sync your progress, process and verify your subscription, and improve the app. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
Only the providers that make the app work: RevenueCat and Stripe (subscriptions), Apple and Google (app-store purchases), Google Analytics (usage), and our hosting and infrastructure providers. Each processes data only to provide their service.
Your choices
You can delete your account at any time from the app (Account → Delete account), which permanently removes your profile and all learning progress. You can also email us to request access to or deletion of your data.
Children
ToneDeck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
